Ferryspeed Academy

Professional development and accredited training across our depots

Keeping staff up to speed with training and compliance is all in a day's work at Ferryspeed, thanks to the launch of the Ferryspeed Academy. Our comprehensive training programme ensures every team member has access to professional development opportunities and the chance to acquire new skills that support both career progression and operational excellence.

Accredited Food Safety and HACCP Training

Following our partnership with Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), one of the UK's top 10 awarding organisations, Ferryspeed can now provide accredited training in food safety and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). This certification ensures our teams maintain the highest standards when handling temperature-controlled and food freight for the Channel Islands.

Depot-Wide Training Programmes

The training academy ethos is now embedded across the Ferryspeed Group, with the Academy operational at all our depots. Staff gain both professional qualifications and hands-on experience, and the response has been extremely positive. Our certificated programmes include forklift truck (FLT) and pedestrian pallet truck (PPT) training, with ongoing refresher courses to maintain operator skills. To date, 10 Guernsey staff and approximately 60 Jersey staff have successfully completed FLT and PPT training.

Specialist Equipment and Apprenticeships

In Jersey, our team works closely with local colleges to identify training and apprenticeship opportunities for the next generation of logistics professionals. The depot has recently acquired a HIAB Lorry Loader, with five staff now trained and qualified to NPORS ISO 9001 standard in its operation.

Health and Safety Excellence

Safety remains paramount across all operations. Our Jersey depot recently conducted a full evacuation drill overseen by the States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Service, while in Guernsey, the Academy has delivered fire marshal training and first aid certification, ensuring our teams are prepared for any emergency situation.
