About Us
About Profreight
Profreight was established in the 1980s as a complementary, specialist arm to Ferryspeed's corporate offering, and quickly gained a reputation as the carrier of choice for 'extra care' consignments.
We are defined by our ability to identify evolving customer needs and expediently invest in new technologies, vehicles and processes to adapt to and meet these needs – an approach made possible by the proactive support of our private owners, and a vastly experienced management team.
In our formative years, the 'white glove' service for which we're renowned was utilised mainly by domestic individuals for removals, student relocation and the movement of particularly fragile items such as sculptures, fine art and vintage vehicles.
This has since diversified into a portfolio of typically bespoke services which require a more tailored approach than that provided by a more general haulier. Office and shop fit-outs and exhibition goods are examples of freight which is rarely welcomed by other carriers, but in which we excel.
At the other end of the spectrum, significant ongoing investment in tippers, step-frame trailers and a number of different length flatbeds has allowed us to meet the heavy-duty but still quite specialist needs of the construction and waste industries.
The common thread linking the apparent service dichotomy is the personalisation of service provided. Profreight is unique in that our unparalleled fleet diversity and intimate knowledge of the islands means that we can offer a tailored, bespoke service to both domestic and commercial customers on Jersey and Guernsey and the mainland, regardless of the nature of the freight.
Our Vehicles
Our comprehensive fleet of vehicles has the capability to meet virtually all freight requirements – both on the mainland and the Channel Islands. From small vans to double-decker articulated trucks, walk-in floor trailers (unique to Jersey/Guernsey), tippers, flatbeds, curtainsiders and rigids, we have the fleet and experience to meet every dedicated transport need.
For domestic requirements, we provide demountable vehicles which can be hydraulically lowered to ground level – making it easy to load household goods, furniture and other fragile freight.
Furthermore, all of our Channel Island-based vehicles have been specifically designed to meet the very particular legislative requirements of the islands, meaning that goods can be collected from an address on the mainland and delivered directly to your consignee on Jersey or Guernsey with no need for trans-shipping. Less handling means less chance of damage – ensuring your goods are received by your customer in the same condition that they left you.
